Family sues after avalanche death

The man, Chris Norris, was skiing in the Topher's Trees area on Mary Jane Mountain in the resort after a recent snowfall. He was with another man but he went off to ski an area on his own and never returned.

His body was found later that day buried in the snow after an extensive search.

A lawsuit has been filed against the owners of the resort, Intrawest.

"They must be held responsible and accountable for what they did. They have an obligation to the people that are coming up there to make sure that the areas they are skiing are safe," said the family's lawyer, Michael Burg, to local media.

He claims the area should have been closed.

Intrawest has made no comment.

It is thought to be only the second inbounds avalanche death in Colorado.]
