Ortovox Swisswool Black Verbier Freeride Jacket

Keep warm even on the coldest days with the Ortovox Verbier Jacket.  This jacket has the most insulation of any in the Ortovox range, being lined in the front and back areas with 200g/m² per square meter of sustainably farmed black virgin Swiss Wool (150 g/m² on the arms and hood).  Combined with the Pertex Quantum Pro outer material, this makes for a jacket that is highly weather-resistant and warm, while at the same time being lightweight and breathable. The 2-layered Dermizax NX membrane inserts at the shoulders enhance stability and greater water protection at these sites. This would be an ideal jacket for alpine use as a mid- or outer layer on winter days, covered by a hardshell jacket in the most severe conditions.

The jacket has many useful technical features.  The two-way adjustable storm hood will ensure that you can keep out the worse weather and the merino inserts at the chin are gentle on the skin. Close-fitting elasticated cuffs help retain warmth inside the jacket. If your fingers still get cold, the two front pockets will quickly bring them back up to temperature. The sleeve pocket provides a handy place for your lift pass, while two inner pockets provide handy additional stowage. A key feature of this jacket is that the Swiss Wool retains warmth even when wet, outperforming down in this regard.

Born out of a pioneering spirit and shaped by our innovative strength, ORTOVOX introduced the first SWISSWOOL products in 2011 – and simultaneously created a new segment of insulating wool products! Wool has excellent thermal properties and optimum climate comfort. In addition to high functionality, SWISSWOOL is also characterized by its regional origin, as well as its sustainable production and processing.

It’s the use of black wool that makes the SWISSWOOL BLACK line so special: It is seldom used in the industry because white wool is both easier to color and does not show through the outer material when used as a lining. In contrast, black wool is often a “waste product”. This is why the SWISSWOOL BLACK line, made from the rare wool of black sheep, stands for idealism and individuality.

PERTEX® QUANTUM PRO is an extremely light, windproof and abrasion-resistant material with highly water-resistant qualities. Thanks to an ultra-thin polyurethane coating on the inside of the material, PERTEX® QUANTUM PRO offers very high weather protection – even in extreme conditions. This also increases the insulating qualities of the SWISSWOOL lining material.
