Avalanche sweeps touring skiers off trail

An avalanche descended on Klösterle am Kaltenberg around noon on Thursday.  In the affected area there were several hikers and ski tourers.

Two of them were swept away by the 30 metres broad wave of snow.   A 45-year-old tourist from Germany was carried over 100 metres by the avalanche, and ended up partly buried in snow.  He was able to free himself and escape unharmed.

A witness visiting the location with another ski touring group caught the avalanche on his mobile phone camera and informed the authorities, who arrived to find no further victims of the avalanche.
